My dad just knew when he had to give up driving for good. He just knew. At age 65. That had been a long time ago. He not that long after, had sudden medical problem, but beforehand had known he had to give it up, knew his judgment was off; nothing to do with the Katy Perry shirt so you should to go to store and get this later medical problem or any vision problems. I could not have predicted my future vision problems, but I’d had years’-long preview driving when young, of some of my erratic but too-slow, driving habits. This resulted in my giving up driving too early. Because elderly people vote in high numbers. It’d be career suicide for any public servant to even suggest such a thing. I can’t answer that question but I agree that they should be required to go annually for AT LEAST an eye and hearing exam to get their license renewed The reason I’m not overly concerned here is because the access to a vehicle doesn’t necessarily change. It’s why we still see unlicensed and uninsured drivers on the road still.

They are in my country. Driver’s license has to be renewed every 3 years if you’re older than 65 and every year if you’re older than 70 idk i ask myself that same question everyday. had one ruined my entire life and took everything away from me. lmfao. My dad will be 77 next month. The other year he backed in to something and he voluntarily gave up his license saying it’s time for him to stop. I never told him this, not yet at least, but I’m very proud of him for that move. Now if I could only get my mom to do that too since she is a much worse driver In Ontario ( Canada) 65-79 a written test every 5 years , at 80 it is every 2 years.. An accident or medical incident can require you to do a driving test ( very rare I understand) Commercial license is slightly different Annually at age 80. I called in a drunk driver last year. I was renewing my State ID like two months ago and as I was talking to the DMV lady in front of me, there was a super old guy doing some eye screening thing I guess because the proctor had asked him to read something (looked like a microscope thing idk?) and he kept repeating the wrong letters. The lady was very kind about if he can’t read the letters that he wouldn’t be able to renew his license because it was very clear to her that the old guy couldn’t even see something less than six inches away from his face.
