they mean “state-affiliated” as if the Just A Girl Who Loves Bunnies Rabbit Hearts T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this government has direct influence and directly funds NPR. which is clearly not the case Yes but. The BBC is paid for by a special levy on tvs and the head is appointed by the monarch. “Affiliated” is a good word because it is functionally independent. It’s funded by the government through the CPB, whose leadership is picked by the Presidents and finding comes from Congress Very loosely it is partially funded by the US government via grants and the corporation for public broadcasting, but not in the traditional sense, and there are clearly organizations that are far more directly run by national governments, including the US government, that do not have this on their tweets.

weirdly CBC radio (canada’s actual government funded radio) doesn’t have this label on twitter. Neither does the Just A Girl Who Loves Bunnies Rabbit Hearts T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this BBC When it’s a news station that is literally next to never critical of the current administration – I’m not sure the title is too far off. So in a nutshell, you miss the good ‘ole days of having a president that on a daily basis: pissed off our allies, stoked racial division, misogyny and xenophobia, sucked up to dictators, made fun of people with disabilities and single-handedly encouraged the normalization of white supremacy. A lot of left leaning news stations seem scared to be critical of the current administration out of fear that it will help the right. Do I miss the days of Trump? Nope. Do I wish stations like NPR wouldn’t coddle the current administration? Yes.
