I call these people “lotion soldiers”, like the Julio Rodriguez Seattle Mariners Rotowear Anime Shirt and by the same token and dudes in the mall who hold a lotion bottle ready to squirt whatever product they are hawking at you. One tried to squirt almond lotion onto my mom one day and she’s deathly allergic to almonds. He was literally diving at her with the bottle and she had to back up and scream at him “what’s in the bottle?!” before he stopped, briefly, and said it’s Almond Lotion, then tried to squirt it into her hand again. She continued backing away and said “yeah if you touch me with that I’m going to need an ambulance because I’m deathly allergic to almonds.” Were you by chance in an Ulta? Ulta sometimes has sales people for specific brands in store like Clinique or MAC. Maybe that’s what happened?

I stopped shopping at Ulta when I want recommendations for this reason. I’ll go to Ulta to get something specific that I already know I want, but if I need help picking out a moisturizer/foundation/etc., I go to Sephora. I get that Sephora employees will have personal preferences like anyone, but I’ve never felt like they are forcing a brand on me. Ok that’s what I thought. I try not to go there for product recommendations because they are always pushing brands on me I don’t want. What helps is to check out some of the Julio Rodriguez Seattle Mariners Rotowear Anime Shirt and by the same token and makeup subreddits and see what people are talking about and then try shopping with those recs vs asking store employees. I love their skincare so much, but yeah the makeup is pretty bad. The conceal and perfect foundation is okay though
