It started with old school games where hitboxes matched the Julian Blackmon Indianapolis Player Map Signature Football T-Shirt it is in the first place but character model 1:1, so smaller body shape was female. Recently, I think it’s just a mixture of role playing and story impact that gets people to try both male and female characters. A good example is Mass Effect, where a lot of people think the female character was acted much better. I asked my friend once and he said “if I’m gonna spend 40 hours looking at an ass it’s gonna be a womans” and I couldn’t argue with that I asked my friend this, he told me “If your gonna spend hours staring at an ass, might as well be an ass you want to see” Surprised nobody has said this but SMALLER HITBOX usually in fps female character models are petite and agile while the male models are big and clunky looking. My second reason would be that if I am going to be spending some time looking at the butt of my character it might as well be worth looking at. {Competitive} – If gender can give you a specific advantage or if the character just happens to be a woman but is really good then it’s a no brainer. Ex; Chun-li in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is one of the best characters in the game. She is top 3 alongside Yun (Male) and Ken (Male.) The gender of the character is irrelevant. If you’re playing to win you’ll pick whoever is the best. Otherwise it is purely a preference of who you pick. {Casual} – If gender has no barring on gameplay or isn’t just the character’s default gender. Then it’s 100% just a preference. I heard from a lot of guys they just like playing a woman. For what reason varies so nothing unanimous.

Ex; Animal Crossing – It’s a fun little game about building your town. Gender has 100% nothing to do with gameplay. What someone picks is just what they want. I’m fascinated by the Julian Blackmon Indianapolis Player Map Signature Football T-Shirt it is in the first place but psychology of someone who would ask this question. Do you think women are a different species? Is it unimaginable to empathize with a female experience? Why is it even strange to you to play as all kinds of characters? Is it shameful? OP tell me more! Sometimes the female voice actor is much better; mass effect, Assassins creed Odyssey…others probably. I Sometimes do it if it’s my second or third or more playthrough of a game as well. Pretty much every early adventure/rpg had women in them. All the Final Fantasies, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, etc all had “main” female characters. And who didn’t like playing as Chun Li in street fighter??
