So this question comes from a non-parent, obviously. Kids should not be in charge of making life decisions affecting their health and wellness. Seriously, who’s trusting the Jon Jones Bones Fighter American professional mixed martial artist currently signed T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this kid that sticks their fingers in paste and shoves it up their nose to feed themselves properly?? I totally refuse to go into battle with my kids over food. They eat heaps of all food groups and love fresh food. They eat whenever and I cook meals too. Unless there’s a medical issue why stress? Pick your battles I say. Yeah this can lead to some pretty unhealthy eating habits in the future. My partner was forced to always finish his food as a kid. He now hyper-focuses (adhd) and inhales his food. He doesn’t even realize he’s full and keeps eating. He’s not severely overweight or anything, but he has been diagnosed with high cholesterol and had some serious acid reflux that made him go on a crazy diet for a while. He is coming around to the idea of being mindful as he eats. He sees me eat about half of my (ridiculous american portioned) meal at a restaurant and then usually eat the rest a few hours after we get home. I have to remind him that it isn’t morally wrong to not finish every scrap of food on your plate in one sitting.

My mum made me sit at the Jon Jones Bones Fighter American professional mixed martial artist currently signed T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this table till I finished. I told her repeatedly I was not feeling well and couldn’t finish. Over an hour later I said fuck it and started eating only to puke all over the table. Last time I had to sit at the table till I was done. Lots of people in these comments didn’t have abusive parents and it shows Mine gave me an eating disorder – yay! Go into a bunch of different weight loss or ED subs and you’ll see lots of issues caused by horrible conditioning from shit parents. 730 more repliesI always thought this was so dumb too. As a kid I would get full really fast and i too would be forced to stay at the dinner table until I finished my food. Eventually the adults would just come over and take my plate away when they noticed I wasn’t eating anymore regardless of if they made me sit at the dinner table alone for an hour. As you mentioned, kids need kids sized potions and when they feel full they should be allowed to stop eating. The entire thing about finishing what’s on your plate is also dumb (to some extent) because if you get served an adult potion of food you shouldn’t be forced to finish it, that also leads to bad eating habits as an adult and weight gain. Maybe we/people need to be teaching their kids to take waaay smaller portions, then the whole finishing what’s on your plate would make sense I guess.
