Shit parenting is why. Leads to eating disorders. There is a difference in making a kid try something new and making them eat past when they are done. Also, every person has foods they dont like but parents think kids have miracle taste buds that enjoy it all. Its all just morons without any self awareness or thinking skills. We don’t do this to our kids. Dinner is called family time. The expectation is time sitting together, minimum 20 minutes. If you’re hungry eat what we’ve made. If they eat they eat. We do a snack round at bedtime. Our daughter 2- eats dinner usually, still needs her snack. Our son is getting picky age 4, sometimes he skips dinner but wants to live on snacks. Whatever. Eating or not eating doesn’t have to be a big thing.

I always trusted my kids to know how much to eat. As for eating the John Starks New York Stats American former professional basketball player T-Shirt and by the same token and types of foods they were served, the rule was ‘you don’t have to like it you just have to eat it.’ I know that wouldn’t work with everyone, but it worked marvels with my kids. Our rule was if you don’t like it, don’t eat it, but don’t complain. If you complained or refuse at least a small trial bite of something you haven’t tried before you went straight to bed. If you didn’t eat it but did eat some stuff you did like you could make yourself a pb&j after dinner. But that was the only option for an alternative. We always had plenty of bread (like 4 loaves bare min 2 frozen, 2 in cupboard), jam, and pb from Costco. (5 of us kids)
