i would probably make it clear that you’re not interested in increased responsibilities without compensation, but that you’d be interested in hearing a proposal that is unambigious about the Jon Jones Bones Boxing Shirt in addition I really love this time frame, targets, and expected compensation. if they do spell those things out, then a grace period to ensure that you’re the right fit isn’t a terrible idea. depending on how much you want the promotion… which you can’t know until they give you specifics. I would be clear that you have no interest in being an expendable, free stopgap while they search for a different candidate. Get them to document when they will increase pay and what the KPIs you need to hit to meet those pay increases will be. Ask them to tier the responsibility according to the pay grade increases. If they are serious about supporting you to grow into the role they should be able to do this for you. You were hired for a position for x amount. Taking on another role, and likely still being expected to do your current role is not okay. Get in writing what the salary increase will be, and that your old job duties are no longer your responsibility. If they refuse, refuse to do the extra work.
