I have an amazing daughter, 7 years old, so much cooler than any kid I thought I could have, after never wanting kids. That said, yeah, don’t have kids unless you absolutely want them. Like, you don’t have to figure it out at 25. Life is an iterative process. You might change your mind. You might not. But I don’t know why you would feel pressure to make any decision now. Who cares?! You choosing not to have kids will have zero impact on the world. Do what makes you happy. If it’s more money, power to ya. Living life without kids has less concessions. Finding someone worthwhile to create kids with is getting harder by the year, and more people just choose to opt out. If you don’t want kids, definitely don’t have kids. I’m the same age as you and have a 7 month old baby girl who I absolutely adore. My best friend is also your age and definitely childfree and she and her husband are looking into sterilization to ensure they remain that way. We both knew what we wanted and we both made the right choices for us. There’s no one right answer that applies to everyone. You may change your mind some day and you may not. I’m inclined to think at 25 you’re unlikely to, but regardless just trust your gut and do what you think is best for you At 25, you may feel this way. At 35, you may not. No need to make the decision now. It could be right for you or life could lead a different direction. Just saying as someone who felt similar to you then and things changed down the line.

However, my wife has a genetic problems: She has a rare eye condition, Retinitis Pigmentosa, which leads to blindness, which she could pass on. She has other genetic issues, too. In my family, my sister has schizophrenia. I would never want my child to have blindness and schizophrenia. That would be tormenting. Due to this, I’ve considered adoption as a “back-up plan”, lol, if we want a family. The only problem is, we are in poverty, so we would have to overcome that to provide a good life for an adopted child.
