Government run Healthcare undermines the story they tell about themselves but in a time of need they would gladly take it. Because they think it’s going to be taken from their paychecks and the “why should I pay for someone elses healthcare” and such and such. It’s state health insurance through my job. I cannot see a specialist out of state without prior authorization every single time. It’s 2+ hours to get to the specialist in question. I just happened to have previously gone to the one out of state, not in state. I also have to pay the full cost of the visit until I hit my deductible for the year. Also because of my one condition I might need to see multiple specialists and unless it is labeled preventative care or a law requires it to be free, I have to pay that full visit cost upfront. Now, these visits that are not considered preventative actually make sure that nothing is occurring that is actually a warning sign. I want universal healthcare. I want health insurance to be mandated as not for profit. We should not have health insurance tied to employment. It’s awful. No one my age or younger (I’m 34) with any chronic condition that has no cure, has any hope of retiring until they’re eligible for Medicare. Of course the full retirement age is 67 and Medicare is 65 for us, so hopefully we can either afford 2 years without social security or we have good enough health to keep working. I doubt it will stay those ages by the time I’m 65 or 67. I thank God I have STD and LTD insurance through my job, but if I didn’t get it on a group plan, I would not be able to afford it. We need more affordable care, housing, transit, education, etc. Everything being for-profit is how health insurance and the healthcare industry got SUPER screwed up.

The sad part is the Jim Craig Ice Hockey Minnesota North Stars 1983 T-Shirt in addition I really love this “BEST” healthcare systems in the USA, John Hopkins-Mayo Clinic, are full of foreigners who are covered by their countries socialist healthcare plan while US American insurance denies that level of coverage. A few things I think. One, there are business which profit off the current system. That by itself is probably a lot of it. But also, and this is very real, government commonly fails at trying to do a better job than the private sector. Because I have seen how highly Europeans are taxed for that “free” healthcare. I have also seen that although there is free healthcare in Europe, people can pay extra get better/quicker care and others are left behind. Americans are afraid of waitlists. Unfortunately they already have that going on. People already have to wait weeks to months to see the specialist, to have a surgery performed, or even to get physical therapy going (which they need immediately).
