Age restrictions or term limit restrictions mean we don’t get President Biden or the modern day Bernie Sanders. Who I view as both incredibly successful politicians. Instead of age limits, there should be term limits for Congress and the Senate the same way that Presidents can only serve 2 terms. I’d rather see a lifetime term limit like the US President has, 8 yrs and that’s it. Depending on their age upon getting into politics they could fuck up society for a good 30 years or better with the limit being 65 years of age. We have to be careful putting restrictions on who people can elect. It’s anti-democratic.. But being sensible it’s not an easy answer. Disallowing by age is not really acceptable, as well as rightly illegal otherwise. Age alone doesn’t determine ability of mind, though it does increase in correlation. This is why we have debates, town halls, and media interviews.. We should be able to get all the information we need. Just like interviewing people for jobs. I think it’s the media’s job to properly inform people to make good voting choices. That is easier said than done.

How about a limit on how long they can be a politician. I’m stick of these lifer assholes, that haven’t really contributed to anything but lining their own pockets and the Jesus Is My Savior Cats Are My Therapy T-Shirt and I love this pockets of their friends. Each person should be treated as an individual. Some people in their 40s are ‘too old’ to perform capably. Some other people in there 90s retain mental and physical skills beyond that of younger people. Judge each individually If its about mental decline yes many people will start to go down hill around then, but still better than many 40 years in terms of being rational. Maybe you could argue you are older than 80% the population, your life experience’s are probably different than the majority of the country and your opinion’s might reflect that.
