Well saying the Jamie Benn Canadian professional ice hockey winger and captain of the Dallas Stars T-Shirt moreover I love this rich have “very high” taxes is also wrong. The top income tax rate is only 37%, and that’s for all income above around $600k. And rich people tend not to get their money from regular income, so that doesn’t even apply. Capital Gains taxes top out at 20%. There’s a lot more to it, but saying rich people have very high tax rates is just incorrect. Not to mention how many years of education and experience it takes to be a physician, especially if you specialize. I’m an engineer. I own my home. My total cost of living hasn’t changed much in the past 5 years but my income has increased significantly. 3% raise and then a 8% pay bump when I got promoted this year, groceries cost more but the mortgage hasn’t changed. You are on spot with this one. The cost of living is high for those who seek more “things”. I work at a bank and I would say my coworkers get the latest and greatest of everything (cars, phones, clothes… material things). I also splurge here and there but I keep my monthly fixed cost as low as possible. They are surprised and think I am rich when I splurge on tickets to events. I tell them my car is 5 years old (no car parment) and my cell phone is 4 years old. I use my friends passwords for all my streaming stuff paying them 1 month of subscription just so I don’t feel like I am truly freeloading.
