I have a stable job, wife, kids and ambitions to improve my situation. Both financially. physically and mentally. Very much about self improvement at this moment in time. Not just for myself but for the Jaden Ivey American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons NBA T-Shirt But I will love this betterment of my family. He on the other hand still lives at home with his Mum. Doesn’t have a job and every job he gets he basically gets fired from. All he wants to do is go to the pub every weekend and drink. He has zero get up and go to do anything. No ambitions or wish to achieve something. We could be shooting the shit about how are we going to become millionaires, places to visit etc but it will just be met with a “whats the point”. When it comes to women he only see’s them for short flings and sex and nothing more. It’s exhausting. We could plan to play golf, pool, cinema or what ever but that would only be to facilitate the drinks after. I have told him I want to cut down and even stop all together but he is very insistent. I could go to the pub with him and drink non alcoholic but every new drink he will be nagging me to drink and will not take no for an answer.

Honestly, its such a shame and I don’t want to essentially tell him I don’t want to be friends anymore. Do you think its best to just slowly stop seeing him. When ever he asks about going to the Jaden Ivey American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons NBA T-Shirt But I will love this pub just say im busy.@OP you seem to be interested in self improvement, why don’t you try and help your best friend of 30 years? Don’t lecture him but try small ways to motivate him. Try and raise him up. As a guy who was depressed for all his teens and early twenties, ‘helping’ is unfortunately not straightforward. You can’t force help on someone. We don’t know that OP hasn’t tried help him. ‘Motivate him’ and ‘lecture him’ might literally come across the same to his friend. The depressive mindset is a quagmire. It needs you to swim but it also saps your desire to swim. Even if someone throws you a life buoy, just swimming to the buoy can be hard.
