More accurate to say that there were times in the It’s NFL x Flavortown Philadelphia Eagles shirt Furthermore, I will do this 1930’s when Hitler appeared to slow down in the persecution of Jews, leading some of the to believe the worst had passed. There periods were often followed, quickly, by further and more drastic actions. From the perspective of German Jews (my family), he was a menace starting in the early 1920s, but not a constant threat. From 1933 on, the situation got steadily worse for Jews in that country. “On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century” by Timothy Snyder expands on this. (beautifully? chillingly?) The book draws parallels between Nazi Germany and what we see happening in the world now – it was then, as now, a slow burn. EDIT – adding a link to “The Rise of Nazis”, a mini-series that further illustrates how long it took for that fascist regime to reach critical mass.

This is such a powerful book. It’s chilling to read how similar our situation today is to the It’s NFL x Flavortown Philadelphia Eagles shirt Furthermore, I will do this 1930s—and I say that as a Canadian. Hmmm this sounds so familiar…was it accompanied by book banning, attacks on free speech and education, and shutting down opposing media reports? Absolutely critical point. People think it’s an overreaction to compare DeSantis and the like to Hitler, as if Hitler just STARTED with the Holocaust and not with the exact same tactics we’re seeing in Florida today. I remember talking to a friend of mine once, who is a conservative American, about the debate people have with removing confederate statues. She said “the confederate leaders were not evil people, they were just a product of their time and wanted to help their country which they loved.” I told her, “Well Hitler was also a product of his time – nationalism, pan-germanism, and antisemitism were all very common then – and he also loved the German people and was passionate about helping his nation. Yet we understand that what he did was very wrong, and we act accordingly.” And she got mad and said “how dare you compare the two!”
