The “person” who purchased Cedar was California State Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber), and he was 100% okay with letting the It was once my life will always be proud of 1883 Yellowstone flag shirt it is in the first place but goat not be slaughtered, as confirmed by the LA Times for the article. If a State Senator is ignored by fair officials and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, then there’s absolutely no hope for anybody to stop what happened just shy of an angry mob with guns. If a state senator and massive reputation damage aren’t enough, then “economic pressure” isn’t going to be enough. The animal actually doesn’t belong to a local farmer, it belongs to a state senator who bought it at the auction, who then agreed to donate the goat instead of slaughter it. So they killed this goat against the owners wishes. So, these local farmers are more just angry that a child is being taught empathy for an animal, which is “woke”. It doesn’t have anything to do with teaching accountability or rules.

That really depends on the It was once my life will always be proud of 1883 Yellowstone flag shirt it is in the first place but program. Locally, here, it’s usually an animal owned by the kids family. They take the animal on a fair circuit across multiple municipal fairs, and if they place well, to the state fair. Every fair has a chance to provide prize money which they can use for schooling, then the auction is at end of season as a capstone. In some programs the animal is donated by a local farmer or sold at a super low price to the program for charity so the kids can compete in a single fair and then auction it off. It really depends. Also FFA programs can run differently from 4H programs, and sometimes both are present at the same place and run under different rules. Long [the mother] purchased the goat for her daughter to enter into the 4-H program with the Shasta District Fair.
