I think that stability and work life balance (depending on agency and series) play a role as well. I go home at 3:00 every single day and never work weekends. I have co-workers that have made mistakes that probably would have cost them their jobs in the Im Sexy And I Throw It Stars Dart Sport Club, Dartboard Vintage T-Shirt Also,I will get this private sector. this. the job security (once you get past that probationary period) is the biggest/best benefit imo. was onboarded fall 2019 and kept my job through all of lockdown. if i’d taken the more attractive private-sector jobs i’d been looking at then i would have been SOL once lockdowns started and people started getting laid off. Well, for some us we don’t have either of those things even with Federal service. Bad on us, certainly but the work life balance is not by any means a guarantee when you take a federal job. In my place, we have such high turnover that once you’ve made it past the first year, you’re basically doing supervisory tasks as nobody with actual skills sticks around. No supervisory pay of course. Really it’s a total toss up depending how your supervisor and management is. Will generally agree on the getting fired thing. Usually federal supervisors just give you terrible projects and demean you until you either retire-in-place or quit. But if you can gut it out, guess it’s a steady paycheck.

Dude idk what private sector companies all of these commenters worked for or how many decades ago that was, but in the Im Sexy And I Throw It Stars Dart Sport Club, Dartboard Vintage T-Shirt Also,I will get this Year of our Lord 2023 things like pensions and healthcare with anything resembling a decent deductible are completely unheard of, even in jobs that are often considered white collar. My employer only offers 401k (no pension of any kind) and my health insurance deductible for family is $4500. AND THAT’S THE GRANDFATHERED PLAN THAT THEY DON’T OFFER HAVE ANYMORE. I’m not saying these benefits aren’t out there at all. just saying the companies that offer them are few and far between I guess it depends. At all my previous private sector jobs, the benefits I had with them were better, specifically cheaper healthcare, better 401k matching into cheaper funds, and better/longer paid time off (not including what would have been a higher proportional salary). The only downside was work hours beyond 40/week (and the general sense of resulting stress). This was in accounting, commercial real estate, and banking roles. However, that may have been the exception as there definitely are companies that have worse benefits, I’m not denying that. I do agree healthcare is expensive. No one ever wants to listen to me when I say this. Our healthcare plans are BONKERS expensive compared to my previous employers.
