If you’re not against secondhand, poshmark is ripe with everlane pieces for good prices. You could try to find one of their linen shirts there! I (mid thirties woman) have no idea what is in style and I’m thankful for this community’s posts and advice. Between the I’m not sleeping I’m following my dreams sloth T-Shirt besides I will buy this pandemic, then work from home, pregnancy, and now on parental leave, I haven’t truly felt part of society for 4 years. Because I don’t go out much, I don’t know what’s fashionable/current anymore. Throw in the fact that my body has changed. For someone who is home most of the time with a baby, how can I find out what is in style? Any online resources? What can I do? I’d ask for spark notes of what is in style but i understand that’s asking a lot. The things I cling to apparently still look 2010’s. I’m ready for a new wardrobe but I don’t want it to look dated. Hey, me too! I just did a Trendsend box by Evereve … it is definitely trendy/bougie/basic, but they also gave me a nice variety to try and it all felt very current. And I found most of the pieces I wanted to keep on poshmark and thredup so it wasn’t a huge expense. I also follow this sub and study the outfits carefully. I’m also being really mindful of asking myself, “do I like that outfit or do I wish my body looked like that?” Because the latter isn’t serving me but the former I can work with.

Keep your Toms, infinity scarves, & confoundingly long waterfall sweaters within reach! If you never threw out your flares from 2011, rejoice! They are back, baby! Fashion YouTubers! My favorite for a more ‘timeless’ yet contemporary style is Audrey Coyne. She also does runway/trend reviews and talks about how to apply them to your own useable wardrobe. Another good one is Nikki Sky. Who What Wear is still my go to if I want trend info, but I mostly have a curated corner of IG of people around my height/weight/body type, thanks in part to doing style challenges, and the Style Blogger Index. Mostly, I look for people who are posting the outfits that they actually wear out for the day instead of just generating content, and the OOTD tag can be super helpful for that. Justine Leconte also does a yearly Pinterest trends video which is nice if you want to get an overarching idea of what’s going on direction-wise. It also helps to get the vibe of wherever you’re gonna be, so finding a busy spot (a restaurant, mall, the local Walmart, etc.) and doing some people watching is always good. Some places can have their own fashion niche or very behind the curve, so following the trends being covered might not always be the best choice.
