I’m 61 and I was forced. I remember sitting IN A HIGHCHAIR in a dark kitchen until I finished what was on my plate. My parents lived through WW2, so I always blamed it on that. if they didn’t want to eat the Ilya Sorokin New York I White Whale Russian professional ice hockey goaltender signature T-Shirt but in fact I love this dinner I cooked AND if there was something left over and nutritious in the fridge, they could choose that if they wanted. (like I didn’t have enough left overs from yesterday to feed us all today, and it didn’t get taken for lunch) I worked in restaurant until three months ago. Something I noticed about the newer generation with kids is they don’t force kids to eat until they’re stuffed. Hell, some don’t make them eat at all. Some of these kids will eat only the fries, some will pick at the bun if a burger. What I like about it is these parents give them the choice. In my opinion, that’s what creates healthy eating habits. The food is there, you’re not hungry? Fine. But you might be later.

I think it’s something us adults went through with our parents, who inevitably probably grew up poor or in a time when food wasn’t so readily available Kids are distractable and have tiny tummies. Everything I’m learning as I prepare to become a parent says best practice is to give the Ilya Sorokin New York I White Whale Russian professional ice hockey goaltender signature T-Shirt but in fact I love this kid the opportunity to get up, do other activities, and come back to eat as they realize they’re still hungry. Seems like a decent plan to me. Not sure why a kid should be forced to sit and eat a whole plate at once, even if they’re full or don’t like the food. Let the kid learn their body’s hunger cues and satiety signals, and then trust them. I was beaten as a kid for not eating my food, even when I didn’t serve myself. Our child will never experience this. I was beaten as a kid for not eating my food, even when I didn’t serve myself. Our child will never experience this.
