I think some dog owners have become relaxed therefore, and assume you are comfortable with dogs or won’t mind. It sounds like your dog needs to be on a lead – if you can’t control it, it can’t control itself and it’s apparently other people’s fault when it doesn’t behave. Dogs just aren’t made for cities tbh. Most breeds need a mix of on lead and off lead walks to fulfil their exercise requirements but that doesn’t tend to go well when there is a population of over 8 million in the city. Dogs are meant to be running around in rural fields i take solace in the fact that the REALLY bad dog owners dont even take their dogs out, ever. so at least the person is trying. 99 times out of 100 nothing happens. still not a great situation to be in but hey we are only a single person making our way thru the world, youre going to be constantly surrounded by things you dont like anytime you venture out of your safety zone

It’s super selfish imo. People are wayyyy to comfortable in thinking they ‘know’ their dogs and trusting them completely with strangers is idiotic, dangerous and not ok. We had a picnic ruined, a toddler licked on his hand, luckily after food, so he wasn’t bitten and my buggy was constantly snuffed and salivated by them. Not to mention the many paw prints and saliva from jumps on my clothes. Mostly I didn’t know who the owner was because I couldn’t see them. Occasionally I heard “don’t be afraid he’s friendly” I absolutely don’t care if it’s just playing, or friendly, I don’t want to interact their pets at all. Parks in London are seemingly not for people to enjoy their chosen company.
