The problem is that we are re-enforcing underachieving in that community and also placing people who will not succeed in college/work positions. Iirc it’s been a while since I looked closely at IQ tests the way they were designed favours a very specific set of learning with no cultural considerations and so both social background and access to education effect it ethnicity would similarly effect it, not to mention the broad gesture you could make towards social background and race being heavily linked. You might be thinking of those tests that were used to prevent peoples of color from voting. Those were not IQ tests. Those tests are supposed to test your ability to solve problems, memorise data and extrapolate on it. If that’s what you require in the job you want to fill, then I don’t see an issue with filtering on those criteras. By your logic, heavy load jobs are biased against physically disabled peoples, modeling and showbiz jobs are biased against uncharismatics people and military tests are biased against immigrants. Ideally. But it can be hard to judge their competency at that exact work if they’ve never done that exact work before. What are the odds you only interview people who have loads of experience in “job title in this field, using this technology, in this industry, in the specific way we need it done”? And if you do find those people, you never have a full picture of their competency since they’ve not worked for you before.

I can probably pass through that filter, and let me tell you. I procrastinate everything. I am completely unmotivated in every work place environment. I mean, if the job definitely requires a higher IQ to perform the job at a high level of competency, I’m all for it. Something like a researcher, hardcore medical work (e.g. surgeons or neurologists) and so on. Surgeons an neurologists have gone through V vastly more rigorous and relevant training and standardized testing than an IQ test would ever hope to provide… if the IQ test did in fact eliminate candidates from a pool of licensed surgeons that would only further prove how stupid this idea is and be another data point on the list of reasons IQ tests are useless at worst and dubious at best IQ tests are one of the stupidest ways you could measure someone’s intelligence and are only really useful if you’re hiring for an administrator role that doesn’t require specific training.
