Because political parties are in one business, winning elections. They are not about solving problems. If they can solve problems by winning then OK, great. If they can create problems in order to win, so be it. They indoctrinate their followers by pointing out the I get my attitude from my freakin’ awesome Dad born in August shirt besides I will buy this worst of the opposite party thereby insuring votes. This is inflamed by a deeply partisan media that makes money off of conflict. Most of the electorate is uniformed and both parties and the media want it that way. Also most people don’t care enough to learn, and just want to think of politics like they do their home baseball team. Once you understand that, and also that in the USA we have only two viable parties which exacerbates the problem, then understand why it’s looked down upon and nothing gets done.

centrists r usually the I get my attitude from my freakin’ awesome Dad born in August shirt besides I will buy this most annoying fucking people. or the “i don’t care ab politics” ppl. just say ur too uneducated to choose a side and move on. i’m glad u have the privilege of not being able to care ab politics but some of us HAVE to choose a side and HAVE to fight for that side It’s because people think centrism and being a fence sitter are the same when they’re not. Being a centrist doesn’t mean you lack strong beliefs. It just means you share both left wing and right wing beliefs. I’ve always had views of both sides, I would like to think most people are not fully one or the other but the past couple years if I disagree with anything onto the left I am considered a right wing extremist. People that I know on the right don’t much care dont much get it.
