Don’t get me wrong, I love mysteries and lore hunting and video essays explaining theories… but some very basic shit in this game doesn’t make sense. Sure, someone is going to piece it together, but the whole community is still arguing over very basic plot elements and that bothers me deeply. Other Soulsborne games had a basic premise surrounded by mystery, this game is mystery surrounded by mystery. I know why Gwyn linked the flame, he was afraid, I know how, by sacrificing himself, I know when in the timeline compared to other events, and I know the ramifications. I don’t know why Merika broke the ring (not truly why), I don’t know how because supposedly Radagon disagreed, I don’t know when this was in relation to much of the story, and honestly I don’t understand the ramifications because for a supposedly war torn nation I see a lot of war and very little nation. Lots of churches, a single town, a huge capital, three castles. Where the fuck are all the people? This doesn’t seem like a kingdom it feels like a series of forts churches and one big city with zero civilians. Very basic shit is missing. Ah yes, multiple open world kingdoms with not a single God damn farm or village, totally makes sense. And yes, you can nit pick my critique and say your theories on this or that, but I guarantee someone in the comments will say you’re wrong. Here’s the big one tho, who was actually the mastermind of the night of black knives, Ranni or Merika? I guarantee you feel very strongly about your answer to that question, and I guarantee someone is going to feel just as strongly about the opposite opinion. Very basic huge plot relevant shit shouldn’t be a point of contention weeks after the game has come out. I understand making something a mystery at the beginning of a game, but by the time the credits roll the player should genuinely understand what the fuck just happened. Sure, maybe there’s still questions about, “Were Merika and Radagon always fused or was that a thing that happened later?” Or “Did Ricard feed himself to the snake knowing he’d take over it or did he do it as a suicide to escape the greater will?” Or even “How did Necrom create Astel?” All great little mysteries to chew on, but they’re not basic fundamentals of the fuckin plot. I love this game, I wouldn’t be writing this or even in this subreddit if I didn’t enjoy it so much, but I really think they shit the bed on the story. I think this game has the best mechanics of any soulsborne game but I think it has the weakest storytelling of them all.

I damn near one-shotted Margit and Godrick. At least the early area bosses seem to be the exact same and don’t have increased health pools or damage outputs. NG+ needs to be harder, way harder. PVP is just full of one shot builds. Which is completely understandable, but it’s just boring playing PVP and it’s really just boils down to a game of tag. I’m unsure if it’s by design, but it seems strange to make a entire status effect, with spells and lore, but it only effects tarnished players/NPCs. Not even all tarnished…Godfrey, who is the first tarnished, isn’t effected by madness. Also there’s only two weapons that deal madness damage.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
