170 more repliesI live in Southeast Asia. If a glass of water is left out without supervision for too long, I just automatically assume a gecko or cockroach took a sip from it when I wasn’t looking. Never more than an hour or two. I have several cats and a dog. You can see a film settled at the I-crave-a-lot-of-compliments-for-someone-who-takes-them-so-poorly-shirt in other words I will buy this top from the dust and hair. max. around 3 hours maybe. but i wouldnt put it in a glass in the first place, im a bottle-human. have that one bottle i replace every now and then that i refill whenever im thirsty and i always fill some in, swirl around, get it out and then get the actual water i wanna drink xd. slightly paranoid i guess. Still water is not something you can trust. It does “go bad”, because bacteria grows in it overtime. Combined with the fact that stuff from the air will be constantly falling on it. Dead skin, microscopic creatures etc. These all get a nice fresh new home to grow and live. It’s why it’s never a good idea to drink water that’s been left out for too long versus running water.

I wake up and re-ice and top off for roughly three days before I put it into a new glass to wash the I-crave-a-lot-of-compliments-for-someone-who-takes-them-so-poorly-shirt in other words I will buy this old glass. Don’t know if u guys are familiar with the (mostly latino) believe of letting a glass of water out to recive “El sereno” all night long then drink it the next day to have a good health. I hate it when I drink most of a bottle of water then leave it on the table. It will sit there for a day or two then I’ll think about drinking it and think of the bacteria that are in it now. But they’re my bacteria so I should be good, right? It usually warms up and I don’t really like warm water if it’s not used for something like tea, I couldn’t care less if it’s contaminated, especially if it could kill me.
