Look, it’s a bad idea to leave a dog chained up for a day, with food and water and a shelter, without anyone checking on it. Because dogs can get tangled in the chain and injure or even strangle themselves. I’ve seen a dog that was left alone for just a few hours get caught in it’s chain and hurt itself. So leaving dogs chained alone for days when bad weather had already caused issues, seems like a very bad idea and the worst of the possible options.
