Also, a thing that nobody mentioned is that kids themselves are individuals. When topics like this get brought up, the word “kids” is used in a way that implies that they are all the same and there’s only one way to do it. My daughter is very good with meals, but would eat unhealthy stuff if it was up to her. My son is the complete opposite. Impossible to get to eat meals together with us, but snacks on fruits and veggies on his own throughout the day so I’m not as worried about him if he doesn’t want to eat what we’re eating. On top of this not everyone is the same. I am in my 30s and I essentially eat one meal a day during my work week and on weekends I may have a light lunch. I’ve never been a big breakfast either and lunch has always been hit or miss. This! My 4 year old is not a dinner guy, but he will eat three breakfasts worth of food. If he is happy and feels full and energetic all day why do I care when he eats most his food?!

I assume their parents did it to them so they do it to their kids. I think a big part is giving kids a choice. My toddler doesn’t like to eat her dinner most of the time, but I’ll usually just ask her “do you want to eat or do you want to go to bed hungry?”
