I wouldn’t do it but if you do, make sure you are prepared to sacrifice time but also make plans to not sacrifice your family and happiness. If you have a family you will never get the Harold Baines Chicago White Sox 1977 American MLB T-Shirt besides I will buy this missed time back….if you don’t work hard now so you can slack off when you have the family Yes, absolutely. How do you put a price on your health? I made a similar decision when I walked away from a $165k / year job where I was expected to work at 60 hours plus every week. I haven’t regretted the decision. They won’t give a shit that they always got the newest Playstation if the majority of their childhood you’re busy hustling. OP I went from a job of about $60k to $95k and I hated it, work life balance was awful due to a hectic work life but also an insanely long commute (about an hour or a little more each direction.) Factoring in the commute time, I was making less per hour than my $65k job that was mostly remote. I’m now in a new role, in the middle of the range you posted, and have pretty good work/life balance due to a hybrid work schedule that allows me to work from home 3 days a week, or remotely from another city if necessary. It would be hard for me to take more money – it would have to be a lot more money – to go back to longer in-office hours and 5 days of commuting. My personal time is too valuable to be sitting in traffic for hours and hours a week. As someone who did this for about 7 years, and then fell back to a job where I’m making about 130k on a 40 hour check, is it worth it? No…not really. Those seven years fucking destroyed me in more ways than one, and I’ll never get that time back. Stay where you are.

I’d have said yes but factoring in that everything in that range has been hit with additional taxes/fees/cost and then adding in the Harold Baines Chicago White Sox 1977 American MLB T-Shirt besides I will buy this economy, I’d take the extra pay at that point. I think 60 hours isn’t so bad, especially since it sounds like it isn’t every week. I think it depends what you’ve got going on. I spend most of my free time studying for work anyways. I don’t have kids, but if I did I would definitely prefer to spend more time with them than at work. Theyll have a good enough life at $90k-$130k. Also I think your COL calculation is reductive and not accurate to what you will actually spend. You cant apply the same percentage to all expense because COL is only calculated by specific expenses. Beyond those basic living expenses, additional expenses and savings are not also necessarily increased. You should be comparing leftover income after living expenses.
