It depends on what state you are in. Several states prohibit step searches as a matter of routine and require an actual cause/suspicion of bringing in contraband before a step search can be conducted. I made sure I had what I needed to get out prior to doing this. Like bond money etc. It was something minimal like Suspended license and proof of insurance type situation. I had changed addresses which snowballed into the Happy First Day Lets Do This of Kindergarten T-Shirt In addition,I will do this state not getting the proper documents from me. I brought the documents and paid what I needed after the fact but I was handcuffed for like 2 hours I think. Edit to add: they searched me by hand and metal detector, took my personal items and literally handcuffed me to a bench. I went in the AM during a weekday incase I needed to see a judge or anything like that. I did a lot of research before turning myself in since I’ve never been in that situation and wanted the best outcome for myself. I asked some public legal advice and they say they can’t promise me that I won’t be strip searched even if I turn myself in? … and it’s still likely to happen??

One thing that’s almost certainly true: if you ask if they are going to strip search you, it will drastically increase the Happy First Day Lets Do This of Kindergarten T-Shirt In addition,I will do this chances that they will strip search you. “Sir are you going to check behind my ear for a lock pick?” “I wasn’t but that’s suspicious so yes” Not legal advice but depending what your bench warrant is you might be able to just show up for court and after everyone else goes they see people on a first come first served. Some districts and only for certain offenses. Prepare for the worst – odds are high you will be stripped searched, but I promise you staff will not comment on or show any signs of you or your body being different or unique. I hope so… I have anxiety and I’ve had anorexia in the past, it has been treated but I’m still EXTREMELY uncomfortable with any undressing or showing off my body, I can’t imagine how to survive forced nudity like this. Do they undress you completely or you can keep something on at least during part of the search?
