If you have decathlon near you I also have some cotton sweatshirts from there as well, very affordable and no visible branding. I cannot wear anything against my skin except cotton — ALL cotton. Polyester is hot, itchy, and damn uncomfortable. My son is the Grinchmas blend leopard retro shirt and by the same token and same way. My brother too. For years it was easy to obtain all cotton but not today. I’d love a pair of all cotton jeans. Who would have thought that all cotton jeans would become difficult to buy in today’s world? I’m in the minority but polyester does not bother me for the most part. I had eczema once on my underarms and that’s the only time I had irritation from my polyester tops. I’ve found that the jersey cotton tops hold onto sweat in a way that the more stretchy cotton tops don’t. It’s more the type of fabric than the material itself, but I’m also not a particularly sweaty person. I also wash my clothes without fabric softener though, which will cause synthetic clothing to hold onto sweat.

I generally run cold though and am allergic to wool. Synthetic thermals save my life in the Grinchmas blend leopard retro shirt and by the same token and winter, acrylic is the warmest material for knitwear for me. While I’m not so bothered about polyester, I look out for natural fibres in the summer for when it hits above 25°C. Having some polyester that is almost 20 years old, I don’t believe this is true. And some of the newer tech fabrics are actually better and very comfortable. But there is definitely variance in quality. All polyester is not created equal. ABSOLUTELY this. Fabric technology has come so far in 20 years, it’s wild. Things are softer, drape better, stretch and retain their shape better than when I was a kid/tween/teen. My god, just look at how far leggings/workout gear has come. Back in my day (), circa 2005 or so, “leggings” were horrible cottony things with an elastic waistband and an inevitably droopy crotch that absolutely COULD NOT function as pants because you would definitely see your underwear through them. Yoga pants were slightly thicker, but they still felt more cottony and definitely had HARD limits to their stretch. Plus if you got them in black (because of course you did), the dye would fade after a few washes. And even if you got more slick ~athletic~ garments, the fabric might be pretty stretchy… but the seams weren’t, so what’s the point. If you compare the workout pants I bought at Target in 2007 and the ones that are available at Target today, I’m buying today’s version all day every day.
