I am so disappointed that Airbnb doesn’t care about their guests/customers at all. They’re like, “Hey your host cancelled on you, here’s your refund and here’s a $400/night unit to book okay bye.” It’s so frustrating, I’ve been booking with them for a few times now and this is the Grinch That’S What I Do I Drink I Hate People And I Know Things Vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this first time I had this issue. Have you experienced something like this? Any thoughts? Advice? The Canadian Grand Prix is from June 16-18 (race on the 18th). If your stay overlaps with that, perhaps they canceled so they could rent the unit at much higher rates. Yeah this is exactly why we went with a hotel instead of AirBnB for that weekend. Ain’t got time to deal with those shenanigans. I’m pretty sure if you cancel a booking AirBnB blocks out those dates so they can’t be booked. But I guess they can book them through another site. True – If you cancel a reservation as a host, airbnb will block the dates from being rebooked. But the host could still list it on VRBO or other sites to get it booked

and could have it listed there on VRBO at the Grinch That’S What I Do I Drink I Hate People And I Know Things Vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this same time but for a stupid price. As the time gets close and someone books at the stupid price your 3-month old booking gets canceled. I’m not saying that’s what happened but if I’m thinking it I’m pretty sure someone else thought it before me. If Airbnb charged the owner at full price for the cancel and gave the majority of that money to the guest or at least gave the difference in the current booking price wouldn’t that help mitigate the potential for this type of behavior? I had this happen to me this week with a vrbo booking. Thought we had a great deal booked 6 months ago because they had a new listing discount live. Messaged Wednesday asking about check in details for Friday and they said they don’t know how I booked it because their calendar was unavailable and the place was already booked on another platform so cancelled the stay 2 days before. Vrbo only “try” to help you find another place to stay but really do duck all leaving it all to you. I’m sure the host just managed to get the place booked at full price on another platform and decided to sack us off at the last minute when the other booking couldn’t cancel for a refund anymore.
