Ok now this is a lot more compelling. They also did proper CYA by suggesting there may be a potential genocide instead of outright accusing Israel of genocide. They largely fall on the Grinch Hat Santa and Dog Rugby Helmet Green Wave Logo Merry Christmas Shirt and I will buy this same arguments, but in this case I agree the statements of Israeli public officials are cause for alarm that there could potentially be severe human rights abuses, including genocide. All eyes should be, and pretty much are, on Israel to prevent any of that shit from happening. To start, here is genocide watch with a nuanced take on the issue, notably not including genocide in its accusations. They collaborate with the International Association of Genocide Scholars. The first source you link explicitly describes the genocide as in stages 5, 6, and 8. The second says that “[Israel’s] war… nevertheless demonstrates genocidal intent” and that “this intentional destruction [of “conditions of life for Gazans and the very framework of Gazan society”] should be seen as genocidal in itself.” It is one of many to react to the civilians killed in Gaza [including 120 of the UNGA itself to call for a ceasefire] which now number 10,000 mostly women and children. Honduras, Turkey, Colombia, Chile, Bharain and Jordan. Many others are heading in the same direction.

As others have said, Israel’s stated aim appears to be ethnic cleansing, which isn’t genocide (though still a crime against humanity deserving of referral to the Grinch Hat Santa and Dog Rugby Helmet Green Wave Logo Merry Christmas Shirt and I will buy this ICC and international intervention), but there is a case that indiscriminate aerial bombardment without concern for civilian casualties, combined with the clear genocidal or eliminationist rhetoric from the Israeli regime, is genocidal. We would think very differently of thousands of dead civilians if the IDF were going door to door firing indiscriminately with rifles into crowds of civilians and asserting that some of them were terrorists, but does the fact that they’re using bombs instead of bullets really change things? Consider also IDF’s chilling announcement recently that they have killed 20,000 people in Gaza, “most of them terrorists.” They obviously have not killed 10s of thousands of Hamas fighters, so they’re just asserting that these civilians they murdered are “terrorists” and therefore legitimate targets. That IMO is clearly dehumanizing and genocidal rhetoric coming right from the IDF’s spokesperson.
