So the Governor kelly’s eras playlist shirt But I will love this whole clock is 60 minutes. A quarter of something is 1/4. So you divide 60 by 4 and you will get 15. A quarter after is 15 after the time. A quarter til is 15 minutes before. So a quarter AFTER 6 is 6:15. A quarter TIL 6 is 5:45. I don’t think this takes things far enough. Take their phones and throw them into a river as well for good measure Admittedly, I always wondered how a purely metric clock would work out. Maybe 100 seconds per minute. 100 minutes per hour. But would it need to be 100 hours per day? Or 10 hours per day. Much more of a thought experiment, really. And an excuse to avoid human interaction I suppose. It’s 100 seconds/minute, 100 minutes/hour, and 10 hour days. My wife is Canadian so the in-laws are on the metric system. That’s how their clocks work. It’s really difficult trying to sync our times up when we travel together.

Wasn’t this what internet .beat time was? Or at least something very similar. Sadly, it never really caught on despite Swatch selling physical wristwatches in .beat time. One time in college I was going to meet my friends for dinner at 6:00. I saw my clock and saw it said 5:59. I had a brain fart and thought “oh good, I’ve got another 40 minutes.” Guess you’ll have to educate them about time vs money. I’ve had people ask me if I’m from New England when I’ve used the phrases quarter til/quarter past. So maybe it’s a regional thing they didn’t grow up with? I remember reading ‘quarter of’ in a Stephen King book when I was younger & thinking I hope this isn’t pertinent to the story coz I have no idea if it means before or after. Was in my early 20s & had never come across that phrase before. Yeah I hate this phrase. It makes no sense to me because if u have a quarter of an apple I have a piece of it so I feel like quarter of an hour is part of that hour. Makes no sense that it’s before the hour It takes 5 syllables to say “quarter after 10.” It takes 3 syllables to say “10:15.” Why not just say the actual time? It’s more clear, precise, and shorter to say. I don’t get why people say things like “half past five”. Just say 5:30.
