There are alot if deer, and those are the ones that make you sick The tick had to be sent away for testing after it was removed from my ear to see if it was a sheep or deer tick, and if it was positive for lime disease. Started anti viral medication this week. It’s making me head fuzzy, and I feel like I have a puncture somewhere, and all the Jen (that’s me, I’m Jen) has leaked out. I’m so, so tired. Yes but not really an issue in a lot of places. I’ve encountered them a lot in the Scottish highlands, and got Lyme from a tick bite whilst on North Uist last year I’ve lived here my whole life and never had a tic, been camping, waking in forests, long grass, up hills. Maybe there’s regional variations as I see others have or maybe I don’t appeal to tics as I only had 1 after 5 weeks in Africa in long grass every day! Yeah I had one attached to my leg after running one morning, but that was in a more rural location than London. My nephew was unfortunately bitten on the testicle by one, there were screams coming out the Dr room that afternoon when they had to remove it. Yes there are loads. My cats get them regularly and I got one the other day in Windsor great park which is notorious for them due to a lot of long grass.

Not saying they don’t exist, but I’m 28, live in Yorkshire, done my fair share of walking through forests and long grass and I’ve never even seen a tick. I’m in Norwich, and caught Lyme disease whilst spending a week off, sitting in my back garden, which doesn’t even have grass. Caught it early and had antibiotics, but to anyone who doesn’t know what to look for, it can absolutely mess you up. There are ticks, I had two at once right in groin area, my friend caught Lyme disease from a tick. Nasty bastards! Yep, we have ticks and also Lyme’s disease. Keep yourself out of long grass during the Gene’s Heartfelt Ballads Nostalgic Music T-Shirt in other words I will buy this warmer months and you’ll be fine. Any ‘bullseye’ bite when you’ve been out in the country is a trip to the GP pretty damn sharpish. I got bitten by a tick in Sweden and had Lyme Disease which went undiagnosed for 2 years, was quite ill too. Nasty little buggers. Dog gets ticks here from time to time but I have never had an issue with them in UK I grew up in the British countryside, spent 20 hrs running wild in the fields and woods. We had a farm to I hung out in plenty of long grass. I have never been bitten by a tick or knew anyone who did. Make sure if you’re walking in the countryside to keep legs covered & watch out for Lyme symptoms – it is a risk in some parts of the UK.
