Some companies try to pull this bullshit with overtime quite frequently. Have someone work 60 hours one week and 20 hours another week, and just pay them out for 80 hours straight time. They would work 9 hours 4 days a week. One Friday they would work 8 and the next be off. They got paid for 40. It worked well until an ex employee rated them out. My gf got a nice check. They could have gone back to straight 8s but the company changed the start of the pay period to the middle of the week. That was there solution. I don’t remember when the pay period started though. It’s been about 15 years since we dated. I worked for a place for a while where I worked 7 12-hour shifts every other week. I think the work week was Thursday to Wednesday. It’s 84 hours total, but it’s 48 one week and 36 the other. I was part of the first group when they implemented this, and the supervisor mentioned “four hours of built in overtime.” I thought that did not sound right, and I did my research. I was ready to raise hell when I got my check.

Stocking shelves/hourly overnight shifts you work your 7.5 and kick rocks. You either go in an hour ‘late’ or leave an hour ‘early’ based on your preference/Policy. Lol. I worked on the OB floor for 5 years. Sometimes because of DLS the placenta looked like it was born way before the baby was. I worked in hospital IT for a while and the time change was a real challenge for us too lol. Worst on call night of the year. Edit: unfortunately mandatory reminder this comment is only relevant to the UK. Please stop telling me I’m lying about your hospital in Denver. Doctors and Nurses have some pretty nasty exceptions from employment law due to the nature of their job. It’s not for the faint hearted.
