“The majority of his job is office work” doesn’t matter, if part of his job requires him to be on the Folked Up Runrig Beyond All Recognition shirt and by the same token and factory floor, and he’s not able to do so in a safe manner, then the company can legally say he’s not able to return to work until he can fulfill those duties. Doctor’s will fill out a return to work status paper, which includes restrictions that the job has to adhere to, and if thoe aren’t something they can accommodate, then hubs will have to remain at home until such time as his restrictions aren’t so strict. As someone who’s on work comp atm, my own restrictions make it that I can only wwork certain duties for 3hrs/day, which are not something my job can accommodate with, so I’m off work while I deal with it.

If this was a work injury, and he’s under worker’s comp, then he should be getting paid every other week, which is tax free. If he’s not, then file for disability, and that way you’ll be getting money, also tax free, for up to 1 yr. I wish it was a work injury! It was fun an accident. After trying the Folked Up Runrig Beyond All Recognition shirt and by the same token and crutches that his boss is saying he needs, my husband feels the scooter is safer. He doesn’t have to go into the plant and his office is very accessible. OP says husband “has been out of work for 6 weeks.” Does that mean he’s not being paid, or is he just work-from-home and getting a paycheck? Or collecting a paycheck while he recovers and does nothing? Or getting disability payments? Is your husband receiving any kind of disability? I’d advise the people paying out the disability about this and their own legal department should set the business straight.
