My dog is similar, really nervous now. Those off lead dogs are often accompanied by a shout of ‘dont worry he’s friendly!’. Like, that’s really not the Firefighter my courage does not roar it whispers to my heart shirt it is in the first place but point? Mine isn’t, call your bloody dog back and if it doesn’t come immediately it should never have been off. I had one woman who’s dog wouldn’t leave mine alone say if he’s dangerous he shouldn’t be out. Firstly, he’s not aggressive he’s scared. Secondly, all dogs are potentially dangerous that’s why I’ve made sure I’ve got full control of mine, unlike you. Ugh. Dog owners just often feel like rules aren’t really for them since they’re dog is great. E.g. dog lead rules in parks, or no dogs sign in shops obviously mean “carry your dog” instead Ropemakers Field in Limehouse very unusually has a dog specific area but there are always owners in the children specific area which has signs saying no dogs.

Change dog owners to cyclists, drivers, joggers, lorry drivers, whatever. A good percentage of humans are idiots. Same it really drives me insane. I’m not in London but people let their dogs free in my city in teeny tiny parks which are basically just a patch of grass in the Firefighter my courage does not roar it whispers to my heart shirt it is in the first place but middle of a street. I’m the one who ends up having to turn back because they decide that they own the bloody place. Both times my dog has been attacked, it’s actually been in the street – where dogs 100% should be on lead no matter what. The first time I kicked the attacking dog in the head and we got away unscathed. The second time my dog had a chunk taken out of his back and incurred over £3k in vet fees. I took the other owner to small claims court and have had a CCJ awarded in my favour, but it was hassle I didn’t want or need.
