I’ve found myself gravitating more towards monochromatic, neutral or subdued colors (which are what suits my complexion best anyways), sleeker lines, less trendy pieces in general. I guess getting older has made me realize I don’t want to dress like a teenager/ya because I like being older and want to dress in a way that reflects that? Sounds strange, but I don’t understand when a person says “you need to dress young(er) so you don’t look your age”, and what’s wrong with that exactly? I love being “old”! Hopefully I won’t go off the edge and look like a sad, poorly aging woman, but I also don’t care that much if I do, lol. To hell with that – when I’m 80, 47 will look like 20 does to me now.

Do it! I’m 41 and have been buying brighter, happier colors. I feel like i just kept dressing in the Fainting Goats Are My Spirit Animal Stars T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this same subdued tones, like mauves and greys. This isn’t bad, because they can be very soft and soothing. But now I would like to feel more vibrant and turn up the color “volume” so to speak. Also i’m very much against black because it doesn’t go with my skin tone and i think it’s really overused. Plus i have pets, so it’s just not for me on a practical level. Honestly, and i don’t mean this in a bad way, but you prob will look that way to some people. Our society isn’t the most kind when it comes to older people in general and women on top of that. I think just existing as an older woman comes off as sad to some people. I see it in the fearful way younger people talk about aging and how your life is over after 30’s and what if you have signs of aging and look older and aren’t attractive to most men anymore. Hell, i used to think that way when i viewed older women. But i’m sure those older women i was thinking those things in my head about didn’t care. Or probably they cared a little but just kept living their life the way they wanted to, cuz what else can you do?
