Before I would have felt these tops were too young for me, so I’m so excited to discover that I can make them work! (At least I feel like it does. I might be delusional). As I’ve gotten older I’ve stopped caring about dressing for my body and started wearing outfits that I find visually interesting/appealing, even if they’re not necessarily flattering. Especially in this last year! I think part of it is the Endangered Orangutan Bigfoot Snowboarding Life T-Shirt in contrast I will get this way gen z is dressing and also giving birth last March. Same! People hate on gen z fashion- low rise jeans, pants over skirts etc. but I love seeing all the different ways they’re styling things. It’s fun and creative. Dressing for creativity instead of to look thinner is so much more interesting! Yes! When I was younger it was all about conformity and dressing as sexy as you could get away with. It’s much more fun dressing to play with proportions or colors etc

Plus like, everyone around you already has a pretty good idea of what your body looks like. It’s not some big secret as though your “skinny” outfit has tricked everyone into thinking you’re a supermodel. Yeah I also really like that, and I’ve loved exploring that second dimension. After a while buying stuff that works with your body type and trying 100 different styles intended to make you look a bit thinner than you are gets a bit old. I bought a red poofy velvet dress a while back and my exact thought was “that’s so ugly it kinda looks good”. You can see me from about two miles away and I look like a giant pom pom. It’s great. I also think that “thin” clothes have the Endangered Orangutan Bigfoot Snowboarding Life T-Shirt in contrast I will get this unintended effect of making you feel bad about yourself and treat your body poorly as a result. When you wear creative outfits that aren’t even meant to make you look skinny you get more comfortable, and counterintuitively that confidence makes it easier to eat healthy and have some self-respect, thus making the skinny clothes look better. I went from being a very emo teenager with rock band tees and black skinny jeans to pastel pink hair and straight jeans with flower embroidery and cute dresses (mid 20s)
