Unfortunately, my gut-instinct immediate thoughts on religion are a knee-jerk reaction to the Eric church orange beach the wharf aug 17 2023 poster shirt and I will buy this evangelical brand of christianity that’s homophobic, transphobic, classist, etc, and the ways it threatens my existence- but at least I’m aware of that! When you’re repeating “see what I mean” to people that are accurately describing your beliefs, I don’t think that’s the own the theist thought it was. I think most Reddit Atheists™ don’t understand the difference between religion (believing in God) and organised religion (churches, pope etc). The former in most cases doesn’t hurt anyone, while the latter is the real problem, regularly spreading hate, misinformation, political propaganda and profiting off religious people and governments. “see what i mean” person running past all of the points everyone else is making because they don’t want to admit they’re wrong is peak tumblr

Honestly, as an atheist myself, I’d have to say that the Eric church orange beach the wharf aug 17 2023 poster shirt and I will buy this reasoning is because of my absolute belief that the world isn’t simply as black and white as many religions want us to see things and that the religions themselves in their majority have gotten lost on what it is they are meant to be doing. If what they claimed from their own lore and what they preach was ultimately true, then the majority of what is happening in and to most religions simply would not be happening as it is, because we are at a point of inhumanity where the divine would have already stepped in by precedence and necessity. The difference between blind faith and blind ignorance is the wording. People will stick to their own personal thoughts before genuinely caring about what their belief is, before fitting it to try and justify themselves with a greater narrative than they themselves can actually warrant, abusing what they have as a justification for their own opinions are rather than following what they preach themselves. It’s a battle of moral and intellectual high ground.
