It really frustrated me in highschool when I wasn’t really allowed to be “one of the boys” and hangout with all my friends. That and I wasn’t treated in the same “guy friend” way I wanted to be. Valid points but lemme tell ya we guys are brutal sometimes you don’t wanna be treated like “one of the boys” (seriously guys who say this are the most fucked) If you were a man, you’d be dealing with the exact same issue but from the opposite side. People are quick to judge and quick to assume things. It sucks but it’s how most people are in general. “Beauvoir asks, “What is woman?”[8] She argues that man is considered the default, while woman is considered the “Other”: “Thus, humanity is male, and man defines woman not herself, but as relative to him.”” If you run into a person with a specific haircut 50 times in your life, you will think the next person you meet fits into that category. Your gender is none of my business, but this post reads to me like someone at the beginning of a gender transition. “Gender is fake, stop acting like it’s real” is a classic nonbinary thought/emotion, and you say that on a deep level, you’d rather be seen as a man or a woman. Whatever choice you end up making, you might feel really seen by seeking out essays or fiction by nonbinary and trans writers– a lot of these ideas might resonate with those. — signed, a nonbinary person who is fine with being perceived as a cis woman by 90% of people, even though gender is fake.

It also makes me fucking crazy to be a woman. All I can say is i’m trying to help facilitate a world where we don’t define people based on their gender as the Epica Omega Alive 2024 Shirt and I love this FIRST THING we know about them and the first way we describe them. I mean it’s normal to get frustrated when you don’t get the treatment you prefer but if you wear a skirt I’m not going to perceive you like Dave because you don’t act like Dave. Gendered behavioral standards exist and if you don’t meet the ones you want then you aren’t going to be treated the same way. Effeminate men aren’t treated like Dave either for that same reason of not acting like Dave. On a side note I can totally smell the difference between a man and a woman. I agree with your stance. We’re people first, and everything else, whether that’s race, sex, gender identity, etc. all comes a very different second. We’ll always have more in common than we do in difference. But … humans category think, and it’s been drilled into us by evolution. The apes who could category think and put tigers, snakes, that mud pit, fire, etc. into the ‘dangerous’ category and teach their kids about what’s dangerous … survived. We’ve been sorting things into piles ever since, and it’s still largely beneficial, but we will continue to overuse those categories on occasion.
