I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up without gender being as “in your face”? Like, having simple gender norms almost lets people be more fluid than having hyper analyzed gender identities. Being a tomboy was just a thing. Not a good thing. Not a bad thing. No one was fixating on if the Cypress Hill Hip Hop Band Shirt and I will buy this tomboy was identifying or being identified “correctly,” we just were out playing and having fun. Honestly I think people my age place less value in fitting “social gender norms” even if they tend to support birth sexual gender identity as default. yeah this is how i feel but in a non binary way. like i am AFAB and i don’t want to be perceived as a woman but i’m unfortunately seen as a gender first rather than a person who is just living my life looking and acting in a way that feels comfortable for me. other people decided me just existing is somehow feminine and therefore i should be treated differently (although i’m sure if i was to tell them i’m nonbinary i’d be treated even worse). but yeah it’s absolutely frustrating to have people decide how they will treat you based on their own perception of gender

Same! Your thoughts and feelings are really relatable for me. It was especially frustrating for me in school, most of my friends were boys and it was frustrating because I never was allowed to belong with the Cypress Hill Hip Hop Band Shirt and I will buy this boys. They were my friends but I was the only one being left out of sleepovers and such because I was a girl. Honestly we were little kids, it wouldn’t have harmed anyone if I had been allowed to participate in sleepovers with the boys. In school we had sleepovers where everyone from our class would sleep in the classroom regardless of gender. And I‘m an adult now and it’s even worse. I have other friends who are women and I like them but I also want to feel accepted with my friends who are men. I don’t want to be treated differently because I‘m a woman. Why would I treat a friend differently because of their gender? If someone likes to go shopping I will go shopping with them regardless of their gender and if they prefer to play soccer I’ll play soccer with them.
