They don’t need the Eat Sleep Play Marimba shirt moreover I will buy this popular vote in the state to like them, they just need their voters to. As a people, regardless of politics when one of our politicians pulls some bs stunt like this we shouldn’t applaud them, we should start asking why the politicians are wasting time when there’s actual stuff that has a hope of passing and improving problems that is being pushed aside for someone to campaign on the floor. I don’t mean putting up bills that eventually lose on close margin, I mean laws that get slammed down by the courts or stunts that get hammered by near total majorities against them. For 50 years they’ve bitched and moaned about how abortion should be a “state’s issue.” Now that they’re getting hammered in state elections, now we need a national ban. Feckless hypocrites.

But in this case, the whole point was to prevent the enforcement of abortion laws. If they stop enforcing their abortion law, then they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing. In this case, the issue would be if they continued enforcing their abortion laws, and they can’t do that without involving the courts. Then it’s just a matter of escalation/appeals. You can take a look at the Ohio rules for constitutional amendments via ballot. 30 days after the election it will become effective. Law makers can’t stop it.
