I read something recently that suggested American portion sizes were purposely huge because most people do expect to take some home with them. I thought that was interesting. I’ve so rarely ever been in a place where they’ll take away my food and package it for me in a box. I think it has happened, but I can’t remember specifically. I much prefer to package it myself so I can keep the Duncan Edwards English footballer who played as a left-half for Manchester United T-Shirt In addition,I will do this wet and dry stuff separately or not pack certain items that won’t keep well etc. I work in a restaurant in the UK and I’ve done both – sometimes I pack it for customers, sometimes I give them the container. It depends how busy I am and what food they’ve got. I work in a gastro pub and always pack food for customers, exception is a buffet then they can grab what they want

I prefer packing it myself, then I know it hasn’t been tampered with or gets mixed with something I don’t want it to. Worked in many restaurants, some would let us pack up for the Duncan Edwards English footballer who played as a left-half for Manchester United T-Shirt In addition,I will do this guest, others preferred us to provide them with the box to do it themselves. Never got a straight answer as to why we weren’t allowed to pack it in the places that didn’t allow it, I always wanted to as it always felt slightly neglectful to just hand someone a cardboard box and wait around for them to manage to get the food in there (often with bits dropped / spilled along the way). I’m not allowed to pack food away for guests. It’s a safety/guarantee thing – if the guest has allergies, I probably shouldn’t take the food back into the kitchen where it might encounter the allergens. It also means the guest can’t call up and complain that I’ve done something to their food or have thrown away something they wanted. Wait, there are places in the world where they just give you a box and expect you to get on with it yourself? How barbaric.
