This is bizarre but I love seeing long nails on the Don’t Look For Love Look For Donuts Donut Love T-Shirt also I will do this Boulet’s again. Brings me back to season 2. And they are serving in this promo. I look forward to the special. katya and matthew lillard ( stuart “stu” macher) from scream 1 1996 omg, this gonna be awesome.Your thoracic vertebrae can totally move – just to a waaaay lesser extent than your lumbar or cervical vertebrae (for the reasons you listed above – our thoracic spine was not really designed to arch). But our thoracic vertebrae are actually excellent at twisting / spinal rotation, even moreso than virtually all the rest of our spine (save the axis vertebrae, the neck vertebrae with the largest twisting ROM). Our lumbar spine is crap at twisting compared to our thoracic spine. This chart (source) shows the range of motion (in degrees) for flexion/extension, lateral flexion (sidebending), and rotation: I wrote a big ass blog post a while back about improving upper back flexibility for backbends, and it includes a bunch of recommended stretches/drills – I bet you’d find it useful!

The thoracic spine is the Don’t Look For Love Look For Donuts Donut Love T-Shirt also I will do this least flexible part of the spine for most people, but it is still mobile and has potential for flexibility when safely trained. The ribs do not keep the thoracic spine fixed. They are attached to the spine, yes, but they’re attached by joints which help to keep everything mobile. So, you’re absolutely right, the thoracic has the least extension out of all the portions of the spine. Other than the ribs and the spinous process, the actual articulating surface of the facet joints on thoracic vertebrae run posterior to anterior in the coronal plane. This means the facet joints will connect before much extension/ flexion will occur. However, all joints have something called accessory movements (athrokinematics), which are non conscious movements that occur between joints in the body. Basically this is what you’re getting when you get thoracic extension, the facet joints gliding against each other to facilitate the conscious movements you’re making. Whilst the facet’s accessory movement isn’t much, when you x12 for each vertebrae, you do start to get a (limited) degree of flexion/ extension.
