I made it three months. I ended up leaving after my grandmother died at christmas – with all that I didn’t want to deal with his bullshit and 12 hr shifts switching between days & nights twice a week. Life’s too short to report to someone you do not get a long with, it might have been mutual. That’s not healthy. If you don’t believe you can work with the person interviewing you, then move on. Otherwise, you’ll just be looking again very soon. Also, if this person is rude during the interview, expect much worse on the job. As someone who ignored my instincts about a potentially bad manager and took the role anyway, I just quit, 2 months into the job.

I would have done what you did. This is a fist impression. Imagine what he was like once he got really comfortable and not try to impress. Call yourself lucky. I think people look too much into Glassdoor ratings pay scale, title and need to trust your instincts. I worked for a lower rated company (deservedly so), but had a manager who believed in me, championed my work, allowed me to grow. I worked there for 16 years and left for a much “higher” rated company. I definitely regret not reading the Don’t Bother Walking A Mile Walking a Mile In My Shoes T-Shirt but in fact I love this red flags from my new manager during the interview process, I ended up leaving after less than a year. I had an offer from a reputable company in my same industry for 12k more than I was making to do the same job. But… I didn’t like the guy I interviewed with, who would have been my boss. Took the offer to my current employer who matched the the offer and stuck around for another year.
