Not saying they don’t exist, but I’m 28, live in Yorkshire, done my fair share of walking through forests and long grass and I’ve never even seen a tick. I’m in Norwich, and caught Lyme disease whilst spending a week off, sitting in my back garden, which doesn’t even have grass. Caught it early and had antibiotics, but to anyone who doesn’t know what to look for, it can absolutely mess you up. There are ticks, I had two at once right in groin area, my friend caught Lyme disease from a tick. Nasty bastards! Yep, we have ticks and also Lyme’s disease. Any ‘bullseye’ bite when you’ve been out in the country is a trip to the GP pretty damn sharpish. I got bitten by a tick in Sweden and had Lyme Disease which went undiagnosed for 2 years, was quite ill too. Nasty little buggers. Dog gets ticks here from time to time but I have never had an issue with them in UK I grew up in the British countryside, spent 20 hrs running wild in the fields and woods. We had a farm to I hung out in plenty of long grass. I have never been bitten by a tick or knew anyone who did. Make sure if you’re walking in the countryside to keep legs covered & watch out for Lyme symptoms – it is a risk in some parts of the UK.

We do have ticks in the Disney The Aristocats Halloween shirt in addition I really love this UK, however they are not as problematic as European ticks especially in the East of Europe a dog is more likely to be bothered by ticks than a human, and you are most unlikely to find any in London. In areas with longer grass and woodlands, yes. If you want to avoid being bitten then wear clothes that cover your legs, ankles and feet whilst hiking and avoid rolling in the grass. Even if you get bitten, only a small number of ticks have limes disease and if you remove it in the first 48 hours then you’ll be fine. I’ve been bitten by half a dozen ticks and I’m still alive and disease free! Fellow continental European here. Been here for decades no and ticks didn’t used to be as much of an issue but over the years it has become more prevalent. Definitely recommend getting the jabs, though do it outside the UK, it’s much cheaper than here I got bitten by a tick that cause bells palsy a few years ago, kind of luckily as I wouldn’t have known about the Lyme disease otherwise
