(And scratchy) Thankfully I haven’t encountered either, since I am not in England, but they are very common due to the hot weather, urban wildlife, and too many people living closely together. They must be more common in some areas than others. Ive spent a lot of time outdoors but mainly in the north in Snowdonia, the Lake District and Western Scotland and thr only time I ever got a tick on me was outside of the UK. In my mind they’re classed as an exotic hazard alongside crocodile attacks and Dengue fever- so it’s surprising to see so many people getting them here. Yep! Our dogs are regularly treated with flea/tick stuff and one of them still ended up with one the other day. Easily removed with a special tool you can buy in places like pets at home (or boots, weirdly enough!). We’re in the South Wales valleys so we’re surrounded by countryside. And adders at the moment apparently They do exist here, but I’ve been quite lucky that despite walking my dog in fields, we’ve never once found a ticket (or flea) on him when checking afterwards. Accoed8ng the heat heat map someone posted, they’re not too prevalent here but as others have said the threat is growing.

Yes there are ticks. I’m in Edinburgh and go for woodland walks a lot. Plenty of ticks about but I can’t say it something I even think about. If one bites me then I’ll take it out I’ve had several this year but that was from hiking on a hill on a Scottish island where deer were rampant.
