You’re never going to see another dime. But responsibilities and work load and accountability will steadily increase in the Devil Fear And Hunger shirt and I love this coming weeks. Start looking for another job. I think the best way for me to figure out if I’m comfortable with the position is to also get the pay that comes with it, otherwise unfortunately I won’t be able to accept the position. And then also start updating your resume in case they don’t realize their “error” of trying to take advantage. They may say you’re right here’s a bunch o money lol That’s absolutely ridiculous. If you’re hired to fill a role, then you get paid to do that role. Stand firm. Don’t let them take advantage of you. This happened to me and I stepped into the role without a title change or a pay increase. It gave me a lot of visibility with leadership and they followed through and put me on a track to promotion. This has a lot more to do with the company and culture and if there is a real opportunity to prove yourself and move up. At the right company you could be rewarded and remembered for managing a hard situation and be given more responsibility in the future. At a bad company they will just use you and it will go nowhere, so trust your gut on this.

Except the Devil Fear And Hunger shirt and I love this job, gain the experience, update the resume, apply to that position elsewhere, get a fair offer, accept that offer, wait until all parties evolved has signed off and you have an official start date and then quit. That is your only real option. The other options will damage your career. They are not going to pay you fairly when that time does come. You can ask for it in writing all you want, it’s just going to place a HR target on your forehead. Figure out what the pay raise should be. Then I’d tell my bosses that if I’m doing the job, then I want the title and will accept HALF the pay raise for 3 months. The 3 months is a probationary period. After 3 months, they give me the other half of the raise, or I go back to my old position & pay. I’d be willing to negotiate to 6 months. If you like the company and do not want to leave, I’d tell them you want a modest raise upfront due to the extra effort. I’d also ask for a probationary period of like 90 days in writing where they will either give you a full raise and title change or you will go back to your old position. If they won’t do it, you shouldn’t do it.
