Personally I don’t judge. Yes, I’d prefer people to stick with natural grass, but I don’t think it’s for us to say. It’s down to the Deion Sanders Gimme My Theme Music Shirt but in fact I love this home owner. It should be allowed for some people – elderly who can’t mow the lawn anymore and can’t afford a gardener but don’t have family who can do it for them. Disabled who physically can’t do gardening themselves and again can’t afford to pay somebody to do it for them. Those with conditions such as autism who have sensory issues and can’t handle the feel or texture of real grass or who can’t be stopped from digging so fake grass is a good alternative rather than concrete which is more dangerous for them to play on. No. My small lawn is basically mud with the odd bit of grass here and there. No matter how many hundreds of pounds I spend on grass seed a year it never lasts long and I’m back to patchy mud for a lawn. It looks awful. I’m going to fake-grass it next year for sure. I’d much rather a real lawn, but it’s not always an option for people. Banning fake grass would suck. Most people have real lawns and there are loads of parks. I can’t see what damage the odd bit of fake grass here and there is actually doing. I know barely anyone with it and they have it for the same reasons as me. I dont like plastic grass because it absorbs heat. I was a friends who had some and it was red hot. Too hot to walk on.

Feel free to come and lay some turf on my 2x1m balcony. I’ll try and keep it as alive as I can. Apologies for wanting to feel like I have some outdoor space I dunno, there’s places where it’s appropriate enough. For example my mate’s old flat has an outside area on the Deion Sanders Gimme My Theme Music Shirt but in fact I love this flat roof of the shop underneath. In summer the sun makes it so hot it’s nearly impossible to spend any length of time out there, a roll of plastic grass has made it much more bearable and it’s vaguely OK looking. We had no real choice. My 9 year old and his friends from the street play football in our garden every spare moment. Our “grass” was constantly nothing but muddy patches and in the summer bare dirt that was as hard as concrete. Tried reseeding, laying new turf etc. But it was just a losing battle. So, the answer was artificial grass. Never looked back – garden always looks tidy, no horrible patches and no mid all over the house. We kept trees and bushes around the outside though. Would I get it if no kids were at my house? No, definitely not. But with active kids and their friends always playing in our garden it’s been a god send.
