Honestly after this experience I think OP shouldn’t. This has happened too many times to too many different people You’ve got good reason to believe you’ve been scammed for £450, that’s a crime. You should call the Danielle The Hunter Shirt in other words I will buy this police and inform them of the situation, and inform AirBnB and the host that you’re doing it. It’s hardly the crime of the century, but if nothing else it should go a good way to convincing AirBnB that you’ve got nothing to hide – criminals don’t typically call the police to settle their disputes – and cause the host to realise the matter is not closed. I’d also refuse any payment, and if one has already been taken raise a dispute with your bank. Even if it’s on a debit card, many banks will take up the dispute anyway. Chances are, if she is this kind of scammer, she may not have reported the fact that the property is an Airbnb so therefore she should be paying business rates not Council tax (Council tax is for long term let’s not short term.)

Does the Danielle The Hunter Shirt in other words I will buy this host have pictures of the linens being there before your arrival? If they can’t prove the linens went missing right after you arrived/left then they can’t get you to pay out no matter what they or Airbnb says. If they really want they can take you to court. I mean cmon who’s going to steal 350 worth of linens who even knows that’s how much they are worth? Pictures mean absolutely nothing. Here’s a picture of some linens, here’s another. They could have just pulled them out the cupboard and put them away again. That’s evidence of nothing but the ability for someone to take pictures of random laundry on two seperate days. Ask them for proof that the linens were in the property during the time of your stay. If they can prove that, ask them for receipts showing that they were brand new and actually worth the £450. If they weren’t new, ask them what the original value was such that their depreciated value is still £450 – since new and used linens do not have anywhere near the same replacement value. If they can reasonably show all of that, then ask them for a list of all persons who had access to your property during or after your stay. Cleaners, family with spare keys – if anyone had access they could have removed the linen without you knowing.
