It absolutely means ‘no gifts please’ in my circles. We don’t do gifts for weddings and functions anymore. And yes this means no gifts at all- not even flowers. It gets super awkward when people bring something. In my sibling’s wedding my parents had to ask close friends and family to take back the Colorado Buffaloes Deion Sanders primetine 2023 Shirt besides I will buy this gift they brought because they had said no gifts. Not even my parents’ own siblings were allowed to give gifts, irrespective of the monetary value. Their expenditure on clothing and taking time out to travel to our city for the wedding was a gift enough. My wedding will be the same too. It’s quite common in my parents’ circles actually- they just go to their friends’ kids weddings with empty hands, take pics, bless the couple, eat and leave. Return gifts are usually not given, or the customary haldi/kumkum packets with a coconut or betel leaf are given to the ladies as tradition. Yeah same, I was gonna say “no gifts” sounds like no gifts only. Atleast it’s true in my invites and ones close to me.

Maybe what OP could do is carry an envelope. If it becomes too faux pas, then put 101 in envelope and hand it over? “No gifts” basically means officially we are not liable to give to something as a return gifts but you can give gifts and we wont deny them but still still we recommend you not bringing them . Oh I hate this pretentiousness. I didn’t bring gift oen time because someone said no gifts and my wife killed me later because everyone else brought and showed them off for cameras/hosts as well. Another thing I hate is the Colorado Buffaloes Deion Sanders primetine 2023 Shirt besides I will buy this new trend of relatives/friends sending cakes for birthday/anniversary etc. and people flaunting number of cakes they received as a barometer of how loved they are. My dad mentioned this in his wedding card and still people brought gifts. He returned all of them. None of them made it to our house from the marriage hall. It’s typical Indian culture. We are greedy, selfish and expect that everyone will gift us Bugattis and Rolls Royces, but our Vedas say that having expectations or asking for gifts is a bad thing to do, so we put it there to cover our ass, just in case some overlord is watching over us. The overlord doesn’t care if we throw garbage everywhere, drive on wrong side of road and beat people up for thinking differently, but if you ask gifts he will be very angry. If you don’t want a gift, you wouldn’t prominently put “don’t bring gifts” on the invite. You would just send out the invite and sit back. It’s like your date partner who prominently says they aren’t hungry but then end up eating half of what you order.
