I told my kids if you’re getting threatened or bullied and you use your words first but ut doesn’t help. And if no one does anything to help you (a teacher or supervisor) to go ahead and defend yourself. If you get in trouble or suspended, I’ll take you for a movie and pizza. Your kid is amazing and I am glad he did not get in trouble. My gf was taught “if they hit you, hit back harder” lol. I have been on the Christian Wood American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers T-Shirt in contrast I will get this receiving end of bullying and the punishement for defending myself very often. Very sad, but I learned not to trust authority when I was just 6 years old (maybe even sooner) so when the bullying started a few years later, the punishment did nothing to me except keep me at school a bit longer. I knew I did nothing wrong and the school was being unfair. Eventually the school managed to get it under control in my case, a very lucky break. And by the time I was 11 to 12, I was actively protecting others from being bullied just by difusing the situations. Younger kids would respect the age somehow and the ones of a similar age didnt find bullying much fun when I came in with a completely blank expression and killed their “fun”. Never had to raise a fist again after those first few years…

Until I grew 15 years older and now have to deal with (most of the Christian Wood American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers T-Shirt in contrast I will get this time) doctors that refuse to do their job. But that is a rant for another time. I think your son did great. I am curious though as to why parents don’t involve the police? If someone threatened me at work, I would press charges. And I get parents talking to parents doesn’t work. But I would think if the police were involved or the threat of a civil lawsuit, the parents of the offending kid would be much more motivated to reign him in. So why do we involve the police for adults, but not for the most vulnerable, innocent helpless kids? Is that something your kid’s friend’s parents could have done? In the old days you were on your own with health insurance. Then some companies decided to offer it as a benefit to hire and retain skilled workers. Other companies followed to compete for workers, and the more enlightened ones did it because they recognized the importance of a healthy workforce. Over time it became standard. This was all thanks to government wage freezes during and after WWII. Companies couldn’t compete on wages or raise wages, so they started adding “benefits” that became mandatory to have and were eventually counted on as the way to get healthcare.
